The Three Levels of HDMI

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the connectivity standard of choice for high-definition consumer electronics. Its high bandwidth and amazing quality have quickly made it one of the most popular connections for higher-end home theater technology, delivering lifelike video and stunning audio. Connect HDTV's, cable/satellite box, DVRs, Blu-ray Disc™ players and game consoles (such as PS/3 and XBOX 360) at 1080p in full digital surround sound.

But purchasing an HDMI cable isn't the easiest thing. Monster Cables come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so to speak. Use this guide to determine which flavor of HDMI cable is right for you...

Good: Monster Cable 500HD

Advanced Monster® Technologies and Construction for High Definition and High Value

For the consumer who wants to save a few bucks and who doesn't really need to live at the bleeding edge of technology. This is the lest expensive cable in Monster's HD line. You get most of the stunning quality of the HDMI standard, but without shelling out all the bucks to get it. Most normal people (and not all of us are) can't really even tell the difference between HDMI cables. If this is you, then this is your choice. Or, if you're looking to connect your smaller second-room 720p LCD to your new Blu-Ray player, this is also a good option.

Monster 500HD features advanced construction you won’t find on other HDMI™ cables. DoubleHelix™ construction maximizes signal strength for crisp, clear 720p/1080i video. Plus, rugged, fully shielded connectors ensure long-lasting durability, so your 500HD delivers the same stunning HD picture and sound today and tomorrow.

Better: Monster Cable 700HD

The Promise of Higher Definition Delivered

The 700HD is the higher-speed (therefore higher-quality) big brother to the 500HD. Common cable-related issues like small streaks and flashing pixels are all but guaranteed to be eliminated by taking this one, not terribly expensive step upwards. If you're a middle-of-the-road, spend-a-little-more-for-quality kind of person, like I am, then this is the place for you. If you have a 1080p screen or larger, this should probably be your cabling choice. Even if you can't really tell the difference, make sure you bump up to the 700 for larger or main displays. Just because you won't notice, the guy watching the game with you will.

Best: Monster Cable 1000HD

Monster® Patented Technologies and Construction for the Highest Level of High Definition

This one's easy. If you're the early adopter who has to have the latest and best high-tech equipment, you're pretty much morally obligated to move to this level of cable. If you have a theater room or a serious display, especially if you're running at 1080p, then this is the cable for you. Also, keep in mind that screens will get bigger and more intense, so the 1000HD helps you prepare for the future.

On top of that, increased color depth means maximum realism. Even the less discerning among us are libal to notice a difference with this cable. If you're the type that has to have the best, then you know what you have to do.
