Control of EP IR 2450/3650 via Harmony 1000 (IR)?

I have several older amplifiers that so not support IR and I would like to find a device that will allow me to remotely turn them on/off. The addition of surge suppression for them (and my other components) is a nice perk, but I am not able to determine if the different Monster products can be controlled via IR remote. Any feedback?

Surge Suppressors - ALL

I'm shopping around and checking all the technical data on these surge suppressors that Monster makes. All I see online so far is NO TECHNICAL data on these things. Could someone please tell me the EMI/RFI Noise Filter capability of all this stage &quot;x &quot; versions? I called tech support and they told me stage 2 and higher was 130dB filtering.... is that UP TO 130dB filtering, down to what?

Warranty - Protection?

We had a lightning storm Friday night and I have lost my big screen TV (52&quot;), DVD player and Wii, all were plugged into an HTS1100 Power Strip. A few other items plugged into the same strip are OK (Home Theatre receiver, VCR). Anyone have experience with filing a claim with Monster and how that process works?

Tips to "Protect" Yourself Against a Locked Up Receiver

<img align="right" hspace="10" src="http://www.monstercommunity.com/imagelib/contentitem/10169/10169.jpg">Getting ready to fire up your favorite CD or DVD, only to have your receiver continually shut itself off for no reason other than &quot;Protect&quot;? What is it protecting? Why does it continue to turn itself off? Receivers can go into a protect mode for a varity of reasons, but here is the quick skinny on how to diagnose which of the common reasons your receiver is protecting itself: The most likely is that the positive and negative wires on one of the speaker lines are touching. This causes a short, and the receiver will turn off to protect the amplifier from blowing up. This commonly happens when your receiver or speakers uses five-way binding posts like those shown in the image. Verify that the positive and negative wires aren't touching at the back of the receiver and all speakers. It is possible that one of the speakers is blown. Try disconnecting one at a time until the receiver no longer turns off. If one speaker is the problem, it is either blown or there is a problem with the wire connecting it. If you have more than one pair of speakers connected to a single output at the same...

Surge Protector Failed, Warranty is Absurd!!!

One of the admins said that monster people read this forum so I am posting this here. I purchased a monster HT800 about 8 months ago and just recently my apartment was struck by lightning. I had most of my expensive electronics plugged into the surge protector, and for the most part, the surge protector failed. My computer (seems to be only motherboard), Yamaha Receiver, Nintendo Wii, and Printer were all plugged into the surge protector, and they all fried. My TV, DVD, cable box, and speakers were also plugged into the surge protector, and for whatever reason, they are fine. The surge protector was the only connection to the outside world, so the surge must have gone through the surge protector. So the surge protector, for whatever reason, did not do its job. I contacted Monster because they have $150,000 replacement gaurentee plastered all over their packagaing. When I contacted them, I was told I had to fill out 3 sheets with a diagram... fair enough. But then I have to send out all of my damaged equipment to certified repair shops and get estimates. From talking to some of the manufacturers, this could take 3-4 weeks, probably more....

UPS and Step Down Transformer

Would anyone know if it is possible (without causing damage to either unit) to plug a step down transformer into an UPS. I am living overseas and have a European UPS (230 volts) but want to use it for North American electronics (110) by using a step down transformer. The power goes off several times a day where I live (for less than a minute) and it can be very irritating.

Audiobahn Amp Trouble

Im new to the forum and i have a question. I recently just bought an Audiobahn A16000V and i installed it in my truck and when i came time to turn it on, the protection light just stayed on. i realized i heard a sound coming from the grounding spot itself and could feel vibrations coming through the wire. i thought it might have been the wiring so i hooked up another amp to it and it worked perfectly fine. So im guessing its the amp, but i have never seen anything like this before. Has anyone encountered this or know whats going wrong? Thanks
