iCarPlay repair?

I've owned my iCarPlay for about 9 months and it's been deteriorating over the last 3-4. First the LED display became very dim, now the entire device (charger, display, FM broadcaster) does not work. Anyone else have any experience with a broken and/or defective unit? Any ideas about how to repair? Thanks in advance.

hard connection with pass through

An idea that I would like to see is a sort of T-connection with pass through that would allow for Ipod connections. I know it would require more hard labor in terms of install, but it seems to some sort of standard elegant mount could be created for undash connections. You'd want the T-connection in order to not eliminate functionality of the device.

CarDomain.com blog has a nice write-up on iCarPlay here I've been a slow at making a decision about how to get my iPod hooked up to my radio and this might be the ticket. Anyone here have experiences with it?
