Monster Cable recently unveiled a new upgrade program intended to provide forward compatibility for some of their top of the line HDMI cables. If a cable offered with the Cable for Life program ever fails to support a component incorporating future generations of HDMI, like higher bandwidth connections for upcoming 120Hz displays with creater color fidelity, Monster will replace the cable at no charge.

“Monster Cable is the only company to offer an HDMI performance guarantee of this kind," says Noel Lee, Head Monster for Monster Cable. "So your customers have total confidence in their HDMI cable purchase and maximize the performance of their HD components now and in the future.”

So far, the upgrade program applies to their new Monster Advanced HDMI line of cables, which includes the Home Theater Ultra 1000, M Series M1000HD and Monster Cable 1000HD cables. '

"Cables developed in the past are adequate for today’s technology, but not tomorrow’s. Even Monster’s current cables are good for TrueHD and 1080p, but not for future 120 Hz displays. They will not meet the needs of tomorrow. But Monster’s new cables are designed for “Higher Definition—full HD and beyond.”

Shoppers looking for these future proof cables just need to look for the new "Cable For Life" logo on the packaging after the cables ship sometime in September. Though only the new cables listed above have been included in the program, there's nothing to indicate that the Cable For Life program won't someday be expanded to other products.
