Reply to A WB mistake? on February 19, 2008

And as of this morning, HD-DVD is officially dead . All hail our Blu-Ray Disc overlords! What do all of you think? Bad HD-DVD is dead, or good that there's now a single standard?

Reply to A WB mistake? on January 18, 2008

I personally have never cared which format won, provided eventually it came down to a unified standard. I did think that HD-DVD had a good chance to win based on some of the unique strengths...

Reply to Resolution for a composite cable on December 4, 2007

Though the actual throughput of single composite connection could support greater resolutions, the limiter in actual use is determined by the video system on consumer gear. In the US, that's the NTSC standard, which is...

They're in the THX section. I see 600 and 800 listed specifically, but nothing that actually says 400. http://www.monstercable.com/home_av/a... What are you hooking up?

The Monster Cables I use certainly do grab onto those jacks pretty tight, and even I can have trouble getting them to release their Kung Fu grip. The trick is that you're not supposed to...

Reply to Monster, Simplay Team On HDMI on July 12, 2007

It's the multiple revisions to the HDMI spec that makes it confusing. 1.2 has these features, and you need 1.3 to do these things, etc. Makes me wish FireWire made a bigger impact in the...

Provided you only plug the amplifier into the circuit, and nothing else, then putting it at the breaker is probably fine. Though if you're going to plug in other gear, PowerCenter will eliminate noise created...

Reply to Dedicated Power Source on July 3, 2007

Absolutely. Power conditioning removes line noise, EMI, RFI, and all kinds of gunk in the power line that can degrade performance. Running a seperate breaker line doesn't get rid of all that kind of stuff.

Reply to Mitsu WD65831power source on July 3, 2007

Monster Power products for their conditioning feature probably would not have helped here. Conditioning helps clean the line of interference that can degrade performance. A Monster Power product may have helped because they also have...

Reply to Video switching for HDMI? on June 21, 2007

The fact you can't switch HDMI through your receiver is only caused by the fact that few receivers offered this feature until fairly recently. I'm guessing your receiver model is probably a few years old....
